The Association for Downloadable Media, which is established to organize best practices for monetizing consumer-downloaded content announced the release of guidelines for Advertising Unit Standards and Audience Measurement Guidelines that will address the standardization needs of portable/downloadable media industry.
These guidelines will be open for public review from April 16 up to May 16, 2008. During this period, podcasters, content producers, companies and all individuals are encouraged to study the said draft and recommend in order to refine its contents.
And speaking about suggestions, I read an insightful post from Michael Geoghegan where he is asking how listeners and automated downloads will be counted and what discount metric will be utilized for iTunes subscriptions to determine consumption metric over delivery.
Feedback or questions like these are quite important to refine the said guidelines that are expected to affect the advertisement and audience measurement in the future. And it will be more helpful if podcasters and content publishers as well as organizations and companies that are involve in downloadable media will also take a look on the draft and send their feedbacks directly over the ADM website or mail them at info [at] downloadablemedia.org.
