FeedBurner, the leading provider of media distribution and audience engagement services recently announced a new feature that is quite helpful for podcast producers as well as bloggers and social media broadcasters who are using RSS feed.
FeedBurner users can now transfer a particular feed from one account to another including the email subscribers through FeedBurner’s new, self-service Feed Transfer capability. This means that feed owners can already initiate transfers of all their accounts to a new account by simply using the Transfer Feed link that is listed on your feed’s details page. It is now also easier for publishers to transfer their feeds to its new owner in case they sell their site, blog or podcast.
But according to Jason Van Orden, a podcasting consultant; the process is not as straight forward as outlined on the FeedBurner’s site. So if you want to a hassle-free feed transfer, you may follow his modified steps:
1. Sign in to your account that contains the feed you want to transfer.
2. In the My Feeds list, click the title of the feed you want to send to another account.
3. Click the Transfer Feed link.
4. Enter the email address for the account that you want to transfer the feed to and submit.
5. LOGOUT of FeedBurner. if you don’t logout of the first FeedBurner account, the rest won’t work. You’ll be taken right back into the same account and left scratching your head.
6. Check the inbox for the email address for the account you are transferring to. You should have received a confirmation link. Click this link.
7. You’ll be prompted to FeedBurner. Login to the account that you are transferring to.
8. When you login, you will be provided with a button to confirm the transfer.
9. If all goes well, you should see the new feed listed in its new home.
Thank you Jason for sharing this one!
